Voice coil centering shim 30.5 mm / 1.2" is designed to position the voice coil accurately inside the magnetic gap during speaker repair, recone work, restoration or loudspeaker assembly.
The shim keeps the voice coil stable and centered while the main moving-system parts are being glued: the spider, cone and surround. This helps reduce the risk of coil rubbing, misalignment and unwanted noise after assembly.
Important: the dust cap should be glued only after the main parts have fully cured, the shim has been removed from the magnetic gap, and the free movement of the moving system has been checked.
Recommended use
- Place the voice coil into the speaker magnetic gap.
- Insert the shim between the voice coil and the pole piece/magnetic gap to hold the coil centered.
- Make sure the coil is straight and correctly positioned.
- Glue the spider, cone and surround while keeping the coil centered with the shim.
- Allow the adhesive to fully cure.
- Carefully remove the shim from the magnetic gap.
- Check free movement of the moving system with no rubbing or unwanted noise.
- After the check, glue the dust cap.
- Compatible voice coil size: 30.5 mm / 1.2"
- Application: precise voice coil alignment in the magnetic gap
- Use: speaker repair, recone, assembly and restoration
- Suitable for loudspeakers, woofers, midwoofers and subwoofers
