Voice coil centering shim 50.8 mm / 2" is designed to help position the voice coil accurately inside the magnetic gap during speaker repair, recone work, restoration or loudspeaker assembly.
The shim keeps the voice coil stable and centered while the main moving-system parts are being glued: the spider, cone and surround. This helps reduce the risk of coil rubbing, misalignment and unwanted noise after assembly.
Important: the dust cap should be glued only after the adhesive has fully cured, the shim has been removed from the magnetic gap and the free movement of the assembly has been checked.
How to use
- Place the voice coil into the speaker magnetic gap.
- Insert the shim between the voice coil and the pole piece/magnetic gap to keep the coil centered.
- Make sure the voice coil is straight and has no tilt or misalignment.
- Glue the spider, cone and surround while keeping the voice coil correctly aligned.
- Wait until the adhesive has fully cured, carefully remove the shim and check free movement with no rubbing.
- After the check, glue the dust cap.
- Compatible voice coil size: 50.8 mm / 2"
- Application: voice coil alignment in the magnetic gap
- Use: speaker repair, recone, assembly and restoration
- Suitable for loudspeakers, woofers, midwoofers and subwoofers
